This is how to order K-pop merch online, start to finish. The walkthrough uses Lightstick Shop, but most of the steps transfer to any store you buy from. What Counts as K-pop Merch
K-pop merch covers a handful of product categories, and the vocabulary does more work than it looks like it does. Knowing four words removes most of the confusion.
- Lightstick. The official handheld light a fandom waves at concerts. Every group has its own shape and colour, and it is the single most recognisable merch item in K-pop. You will see it written as one word and as two, so an official lightstick and an official light stick are the same object.
- Mini lightstick. A keyring-sized version of the same design. It lights up, it clips to a bag, and it costs a fraction of the full-size one.
- Photocard. Often shortened to PC. A small printed card showing one member, usually packed inside an album, often randomly. Photocards are member-specific, which matters if your bias, the member you are drawn to most, shifts later on.
- Album. In K-pop this means a physical package, not just a CD. Expect a photobook, inclusions, and several versions of the same release with different covers.
Two more terms will come up constantly. A comeback is a group’s new release and the promotion run around it, and it is when merch demand spikes. A fandom name is what a group’s fans call themselves, so BTS fans are ARMY and Stray Kids fans are STAY. Product descriptions use these names as a matter of course.
There is also the official versus fan-made split. Official merch is licensed by the group’s company. Fan-made merch is produced independently by fans, and it is a legitimate thing to buy, just not the same thing. How to Order K-pop Merch Online, Step by Step
Seven steps. The whole thing takes about five minutes once you know what you are looking at, and most of that time goes into step two.
Step 1. Find your group
There are two routes into the catalogue, and they suit different starting points.
- Browse by group. Each major group has its own collection page, grouped by fandom. Use this if you know who you are shopping for and want to see everything at once.
- Search by product type. Type the group name into the search bar, or the group name plus the item, for example the group name followed by lightstick. Use this if you already know the exact item.

Step 2. Pick the right version
This is where most first orders go wrong, and it is worth slowing down for. A version, usually written Ver.1, Ver.2 or Ver.3, is a re-release of the same product with design or hardware changes. It is not a quality ranking. A Ver.1 is not broken because a Ver.2 exists.
Two questions settle it. First, which version is your group currently touring with, since that is the one that syncs at the show. Second, do you want the full-size lightstick or the mini. Step 3. Read the product page before you add to cart
Four things are worth checking, and they take about thirty seconds together.
- The variant dropdown. Some products have a colour or style option. It defaults to the first one, so choose deliberately rather than accepting the default.
- Availability. Confirm the item is in stock rather than sold out. A sold-out product cannot be added to the cart at all.
- What is in the box. Batteries, cases and stands are sometimes separate products rather than inclusions.
- The price and currency. The store prices in US dollars, so your bank converts at checkout if you pay in another currency.

Step 4. Check out as a guest, or make an account

Step 5. Enter your address and pay
